Since 2008 Fiji Fashion Week has made inroads into establishing Fiji on the global fashion map. The Fijian Fashion Foundation was formed in 2018 to support the Fiji Fashion industry to grow and develop talented young Fijian designers. Strategy has partnered with the Fijian Fashion Foundation as their Creative Partner for their annual fundraising event, Bula Ball, since its launch.
Focussing on Fiji’s vibrant heritage and elements of Fijian culture we crafted a uniquely Pacific brand identity and position. Our goal was to create a brand with memorable and recognisable elements that would stand the test of time. The Fijian Fashion Foundation brand was born, with a flagship event called the ‘Bula Ball’ (‘bula’ meaning ‘hello’ in Fijian).
Continuing on from the success of 2018’s sold-out event, we themed the 2019 event as ‘One Night in Paradise’. From concept, to naming and identity, the event was designed as an ode to the majestical relationship between the ocean and Fiji. Using a custom typeface and an accompanying series of custom graphics, we created a visual language that flowed seamlessly across all executions. Premium printed invitations and programs integrated perfectly with digital executions including a purpose-built website, EDMs, Facebook ads, and customised animations.
